Just Skirting respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can do about it. It applies to everyone who contacts us, requests a quote, or uses our website.

1. What we collect

We collect only what we need to quote for your job, do the work, and get paid. That usually means:

  • Your name, phone number and email address, so we can contact you about your enquiry or job.
  • The address of the property where the work is to be done, and details about the job itself: measurements, photos you send us, and what you would like done.
  • Payment and billing information, handled through our accounting system. We do not store your card details.
  • Records of our dealings with you: quotes, invoices, correspondence and job notes.
  • Website usage information, see section 5.

We do not collect sensitive information (such as health, racial, political or religious information), and we ask that you do not send it to us.

2. How we collect it

Mostly directly from you, through our website quote forms, by phone, by email, or through a direct message on Facebook or Instagram. We also collect information as we do the work, such as photographs of the site.

If someone else gives us your details, such as a builder, a real estate agent, or a family member arranging work on your behalf, we treat that information the same way and this policy applies to it.

3. Why we collect it

To prepare and send you a quote; to schedule and carry out work; to invoice you and manage payment; to answer your questions and handle any problems; to meet our legal and tax obligations; and, where you have agreed to it, to send you marketing.

We also use it to run our monthly giveaway, see section 7.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone who wants it for their own marketing.

We do share it with the service providers we use to run the business:

  • Simpro, our quoting and job management system. Your contact details, property address and job details are stored here.
  • Xero, our accounting system, for invoicing and payment records.
  • Google Analytics, website usage information only. See section 5.
  • Brevo, your name and email address, only if you have agreed to receive marketing from us.
  • Tradespeople and suppliers working on your job, where they need your address or contact details to do it.
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram): when you visit our site, some of your activity is shared with Meta through the Meta Pixel, so we can measure our Facebook and Instagram ads and show ads to people who have visited us. See section 5.

We may also disclose your information where the law requires it, for example to a regulator, court, or the police.

Some of these providers store information overseas. Google and Meta hold data on servers in the United States, and Brevo, our email marketing provider, holds data on servers in the European Union. By giving us your information you consent to that disclosure. We take reasonable steps to use providers with appropriate privacy protections, but we cannot control how overseas laws apply to them.

5. Cookies and website analytics

Our website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site: which pages are viewed, how people arrive, and roughly where in the world they are. This is done using cookies, which are small files stored by your browser.

This information is aggregated and does not identify you personally. If you would rather not be included, you can turn off cookies in your browser settings, or install Google’s opt-out browser add-on. Turning off cookies may affect how parts of the site work.

We also use advertising tools on our site:

  • Meta Pixel: a small piece of code from Meta (Facebook and Instagram) that records actions you take on our site, such as pages you view or an enquiry you start. We use it to measure how our Facebook and Instagram ads perform and to show relevant ads to people who have visited our site.
  • Google Ads tags: used to measure how our Google ads perform and to show our ads to people who have already visited our site (remarketing).

Unlike the analytics above, these tools can be linked to your Facebook, Instagram or Google account. You can limit this in your browser cookie settings, or in your ad preferences on Facebook, Instagram and Google.

6. Marketing, and how to stop it

We will only send you marketing if you have agreed to receive it, or where you are an existing customer and it is about services like the ones we have already provided you.

Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and we act on unsubscribes promptly. You can also ask us to stop at any time by contacting us using the details at the end of this policy. Opting out of marketing does not affect your quote, your job, or the service you receive from us.

7. The monthly giveaway

If we issue you a quote, you are automatically entered into our monthly giveaway. We tell you this when the quote is issued, and you can opt out at any time before entries close for that month.

To run the draw and meet our obligations as the promoter, we keep a register containing your name, contact details, property address, and the reference and date of your quote. This register is used only to run the draw, verify eligibility, contact winners and deliver prizes.

If you win, our installation team photographs your project before and after the work, as part of standard job delivery, and we may publish that imagery in our marketing. We obscure or omit identifying details such as house numbers, street signs and vehicle number plates before anything is published. The terms of that licence are set out in the giveaway Terms & Conditions.

Only entry numbers are sent to Random.org, the service used to randomise the draw. Your name, contact details and address are never sent to it.

Western Australian trade promotion law requires us to keep entry, draw and winner records for at least twelve months from the draw date and to produce them to a regulator or the police on request. We keep personal information collected for the giveaway for twenty-four months from the draw date, after which it is securely destroyed. Records of the draw itself, being entry numbers and the randomised order with names removed, are kept longer so that past draws remain verifiable.

Full details are in the giveaway Terms & Conditions.

8. How long we keep your information

We keep customer and job records for seven years after our last dealing with you, which is the period our tax and business record-keeping obligations require. Giveaway records follow the timeframes in section 7. Website analytics data is kept according to Google Analytics’ own retention settings.

When we no longer need information and are not required to keep it, we destroy or de-identify it.

9. Keeping it safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Our quoting and accounting systems are password-protected and access is limited to the people who need it. We keep our systems up to date.

No system is perfectly secure. If a data breach occurs that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required.

10. Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days, and we do not charge for this.

There are limited situations where we may not be able to give you access, for example where doing so would unreasonably affect someone else’s privacy. If that happens, we will tell you why in writing.

You can also ask us to delete your information. We will do so unless we are required to keep it, for example tax records, or giveaway records inside the twelve-month retention period required by Western Australian law. If we cannot delete something, we will tell you what we are keeping and why.

11. Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please tell us first. Contact details are below. We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to resolve it within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle it, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au, or on 1300 363 992.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available on our website, and the date it was last updated is shown at the top.
